Introducing: Cottino!
As I’ve grown as a designer and entered a new chapter of life as a mother, I find that my inspiration and perspective haven’t changed, they’ve simply expanded. My creative interests continue to evolve, but the core of what drives me remains the same: creating beautiful, functional yarns and patterns that empower makers to bring their ideas to life.
When I set out to develop a new yarn, I wanted to expand on the concept of the modern maker and challenge the idea that “baby” projects and yarns must adhere to pastel palettes and synthetic fibers. Why should easy care and durability come at the expense of style and quality? Why can’t the same yarn that makes a cherished baby blanket also become a favorite sweater or a timeless home accessory? While mainstream lifestyle brands now carry a cohesive aesthetic across adult, child, and home, the yarn industry has largely fallen short - until now.
Cottino blends luxury, practicality, and modern design sensibility. It’s a yarn that feels equally at home in a nursery or a curated wardrobe and is a natural evolution from my other yarns - still versatile, still modern, still accessible - but elevated in every detail. Spun from 55% cotton and 45% superwash merino wool and available in a gorgeous palette of 24 colors that move effortlessly between soft, vibrant, and muted tones, the result is a yarn that feels accessible yet refined - something you’ll reach for again and again.
Designed for thoughtful makers who value quality, ease, and style in equal measure, Cottino is made to be loved, used, washed, and worn - by every generation.
With the release of the yarn I have also dropped 8 new patterns (4 of which are free here on the blog!) to showcase different color combos and demonstrate the various items that can be made with Cottino. As I mentioned above, the versatility of this yarn makes it a workhorse for nearly every type of project you could imagine, and my goal is for it to be a yarn that doesn’t sit on your shelves and become part of your stash, but rather something that gets used over and over.
With projects in mind, let’s talk about the different attributes of Cottino!
Fiber & Quality
A balanced blend of 55% cotton and 45% superwash merino, this yarn pairs the coolness of plant fiber with the gentle warmth of wool. This all-weather blend produces a soft, breathable fabric that's suitable for wearables, home dec and more year-round. Certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, it’s independently tested to be free of any harmful substances and safe to wear, making it baby-friendly without question. It’s our take on affordable luxury - accessible, versatile, and beautifully made.

Care & Laundering
Thoughtfully crafted for modern life, Cottino is made with easy care fibers to make wearing and enjoying your finished pieces effortless and uncomplicated. Hand & Appearance
Cotton lends structure, while merino wool brings a delicate, natural softness. This blend creates a lightweight yarn with graceful drape while a subtle marled effect arises from how each fiber takes dye differently, giving the finished fabric a rich, dimensional look.

The palette features 24 thoughtfully curated shades, ranging from airy pastels and grounded neutrals to vibrant primaries and muted midtones. Designed for both modern nurseries and wardrobes
Balanced tints and shades for endless pairing possibilities
“Everyday ease, elevated.”
This yarn has been a labor of love from start to finish with each detail chosen thoughtfully and intentionally. I’m so grateful to Lion Brand for giving me the opportunity and trust to create something a bit outside their wheelhouse that I think fills a gap in the industry between what we view as a craft yarn versus a luxury yarn. The qualities of Cottino are top notch, but the price point is friendly on the wallet. At only $9.99/ball, you are getting premium fibers at an affordable price you won’t find elsewhere. It feels all at once like a luxury yarn and like something that can be put to work.
I can’t wait to see what projects this special yarn will turn into through your hands, and I’m so thankful for all of your sweet support and enthusiasm over this latest endeavor.
