If you’re reading this post it means the kits for the upcoming Landscape and Vista Wraps are officially live and ready to be shopped! While the KAL/CAL for these designs don’t officially start until July 15, now is the time to gather our supplies and choose a color combo. Whether you’re making the knit or the crochet wrap, I’ve put together 15 color themes that are all equally stunning, as well as a quick guide to building your own combo if you want to go rogue. Read on for more details about the projects, all of the dates for the make-along, and an abundance of color inspo.

If you’re not familiar with KALs (knit-alongs) or CALs (crochet-alongs), it’s basically an online event where we will all be working on our projects together and sharing our WIPS. For these projects, everything will be going down here on the blog, on IG, and in the Crew of Wands Facebook group. On IG you can share your projects with the official hashtags (#LandscapeWrapKAL and #VistaWrapCAL), and in the Crew of Wands Facebook group you can easily connect with other makers, share your projects, and get helpful feedback should you run into any difficulties with the patterns. I put a TON of work into the make-along for these wraps, including full video tutorials, giveaways, and 15 themed color combos complete with mood boards! First things first, let’s take a peek at the timeline:

That's a wrap - sport your finished pieces in front of your favorite landscape or vista!
In between you can expect color combo guidance, styling tips, and a lot of fun! Checking out everyone else's color combos and progress is always one of my favorite parts of a KAL/CAL like this.
Now for the fun - choosing a color combo! In case it’s not obvious in the names, these two wraps were inspired by landscapes and vistas. I think of wraps as giant canvases that we get to splash with colors and textures, and in this case I was influenced by beautiful landscape paintings and photography that so perfectly capture the essence of a place. I want you to knit or crochet your favorite landscape or vista into these meditative wraps designed to represent the view that lights you up. Whether it’s the calming horizon of your home or a faraway vision in your dreams, choose a color palette that speaks to your soul and indulge in the simple stitches and textures that transport you there!
With a palette of 18 beautiful colors that features so many neutrals, seasonal tones, contrasts, and endless color combinations, the Color Theory palette was built for projects just like this! This yarn is also a dream to work with and makes for a gorgeous finished project with a buttery soft lightweight fabric and excellent drape.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at all FIFTEEN themes. It was SO hard for me to narrow down all of the combinations I came up with (did you know there are a total of 8568 five-color combos you can create with the 18 colors in the palette!?) and I could have kept going but I didn’t want to make it tooooo overwhelming, lol. I hope you enjoy these mood boards as much as I do!

Whew, what a decision, right?! Part of the reason I ended up making two wraps was because I couldn’t decide on a single combo (and trust me, it took me ages to commit to the two I chose!). I cannot wait to see what themes you all land on! But if after all of that you want to go with a combo I didn’t share, here is a quick guide to creating your own:
Search the web for a landscape or vista that sparks your fancy and save the photo to your phone. You can also search through books and physical art, just take a picture of the image you choose and again, save it to your phone.
Open Instagram and act as if you’re posting a story, selecting your landscape/vista image. Shrink the image so you have some blank space in the frame. Use the eyedropper tool to select 5 dominant colors from the image, and draw palette swatches in the blank space of the frame. You can also do this with Photoshop or another photo editing app if you happen to have one.
Save the image. This is now your own mini mood board. Look through the Color Theory palette or shop your stash to locate the 5 closest colors to the ones you identified.
Play around with the progression of the colors. Rearranging them can create a totally different feel, even with the same colors. Put high contrast colors next to each other for a vibrant, energetic feel, or pair up low contrast colors for a moodier vibe.
Stay tuned for the patterns, tutorials, styling tips, and more! In the meantime here are the important links:
