I’ve always loved the look of mesmerizing single stripes and knew this would be the perfect project to use them for along with the symmetric shaping that adds even more intrigue.
Anything French-inspired just feels extra chic, and I wanted a design that would echo the elevated look of this budget-friendly-but-beautiful yarn. It’s such an each piece to through on an instantly make an outfit feel more glam!
This is another one of those projects, thanks to the mix-and-match palette of Color Theory, where there are soooo many color combos possible (153 to be exact) and you can really personalize it to match your style.
This is an easy level crochet pattern and the techniques involved are knitting and purling, the S2KP decrease, and working in the round on circular and double pointed needles.

Notes: Hat is worked in the round from the brim up and is shaped with mirrored, centered decreases. Change to double pointed needles when necessary. For a seamless color change at the end of each round, pull the old color over to the left and pick up the new color from under it. Gently tug on the new color to even out the stitches connecting the previous round of that color.
Pattern:

Begin i-cord loop:
Do not turn. Slide the 3 sts to the other end of the needle. The working yarn will now be at the bottom of the sts. Continuing with color B, K the 3 sts, bringing the working yarn up the back of the work. This is essentially connecting the last st of the previous row to the first st of this row.
Slide the sts to the other end of the needle again and K the next row, bringing the working yarn up the back of the work.
Continue in this manner, sliding and knitting until the i-cord measures approx. 2”/5cm.
Cut yarn and thread tail onto tapestry needle. Draw tail through sts, removing needle, and pull like a drawstring to close hole. Thread tail through top of hat to interior and knot to secure to form a loop.
Secure and weave in all ends.
