Hue + Me: Olivebridge Zigzag Scarf
One of my favorite parts of the process in designing with Hue + Me is selecting a color combo, and I had the MOST fun choosing the selection for the new Olivebridge Zigzag Scarf. My goal was to create a canvas for the most epic fall color story and honestly it turned out even better than I imagined! I love how playing with color can really transform a basic stitch pattern. Scroll down for the free pattern, purchase a printer-friendly PDF of the pattern here, or purchase the kit with all the Hue + Me yarn you’ll need here.
In this latest design, classic crochet zigzag stitches are presented in bold, seasonal colors to welcome the colors of fall. You could easily choose this same combo or go wild with others that match your personality or wardrobe! Personally I would love to make a second one of these in steely blues, greys, and neutrals to represent the winter season.
The beauty of the Hue + Me palette is that no matter which colors you choose, you’ll always have a gorgeous result since the entire palette has been built to be mix-and-match. Did you know that out of the 30 colors currently in the palette, there are 2,035,800 possible combinations of seven colors you could put together for this project!? It is truly mind blowing. If you’re wondering how I came up with this number, check out this combination calculator.
I made this scarf extra long so that it can be worn in multiple ways - long and lean, wrapped once or twice, or folded in half with the ends pulled through. I’m always aiming for versatility in my designs so you’ll get the most use out of each and every thing you make! This scarf is something I think beginners and seasoned crocheters alike will really enjoy since it’s such a fun project to work on and it results in something so beautiful and functional to wear.
This is an easy level crochet pattern, and the techniques involved are single crochet, double crochet, dc2tog/dc3tog/dc5tog decreases, and the magic knot join.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
Dc2tog (double crochet 2 together) – [yarn over, insert hook into next st, yarn over, draw up a loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 2 times (3 loops on hook), yarn over, draw through all loops on hook.
Dc3tog (double crochet 3 together) – [yarn over, insert hook into next st, yarn over, draw up a loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 3 times (4 loops on hook), yarn over, draw through all loops on hook.
Dc5tog (double crochet 5 together) – [yarn over, insert hook into next st, yarn over, draw up a loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 5 times (6 loops on hook), yarn over, draw through all loops on hook.
Notes: Pattern is worked flat in back and forth rows – turn at the end of each row. There is not a turning chain at the beginning of each row. The sc, ch 1, and dc2tog at the beginning of each row imitates a decrease to match the dc3tog at the end of each row. This helps keep the edges straight so that there isn’t extra bulk from a turning chain or a hole left from skipping a stitch in traditional double crochet rows. To change color, use a magic knot join to avoid weaving in any ends. Colors should be changed at random as you see fit and color changes do not need to happen at the end of a row.
With color A, ch 34.
Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc 1, ch 1, dc2tog, dc 5, 5 dc in next st, dc 5, dc5tog, dc 5, 5 dc in next st, dc 5, dc3tog. (33 sts)
