Sophie Bucket Hat

Nearly every time I design something in crochet I am asked for a knit version of it (and vice versa), but never have I received such an intense response as when I released my crochet Annie Bucket Hat. It seemed like every other comment was asking (er, demanding) for a knitting pattern. I'm so excited to announce that I have in fact designed a knit version - the Sophie Bucket Hat! Read on for the BTS and free pattern or purchase a PDF here. You can also grab the full kit with yarn and digital pattern included here.

I have to admit that this pattern almost did not happen. While I always try to design equally in knitting and crochet, I can't always create EVERYTHING in both crafts. Sometimes there are time restraints, sometimes it's actually impossible because the crafts are very different and oftentimes don't produce the same results, and sometimes I'm just not inspired to do so, and that's ok. This design was sort of a combo of all of those.

At the end of the day I do want all of my followers and customers to be happy and be able to create something beautiful that they can be proud of, and I do love a challenge, so I went for it and worked out a knit version. It took several attempts (I ended up having to go down three needle sizes to even get anywhere close to the fabric of the crochet one), but the end result is lovely. It's slightly thinner and stretchier than the Annie Bucket Hat, but that's just the nature of knit vs crochet fabric.

These furry bucket hats are super on trend and also feel so festive for the season thanks to the Go For Faux yarn! The photo shoot for the Sophie Bucket Hat turned out like a straight up Hallmark Christmas movie promo poster, haha. Now that all crafters can make one, I have a feeling these hats are going to be under a lot of trees this year. I don't think I've ever designed something that's been so universally loved by all ages either.

One of my favorite things about designing something quick and easy like this is that I get to see so many WIPs pop up in my feed right away. So many Annie Bucket Hats were finished on the first day! I love seeing your projects, so don't forget to tag me on social media if you share your WIPs and FOs.
