Pattern Suites: Summer Essentials
UPDATE: THIS PATTERN SUITE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. SIGN UP FOR MY NEWSLETTER TO BE NOTIFIED WHEN PATTERN SUITES BECOME AVAILABLE AGAIN.
Summertime and yarn don't always sound like the best match, but designing warm weather knits has always been extra fun for me! I love using cotton and bamboo fibers and airy stitches to create the perfect simple and functional additions to my summer outfits so I can still show off my handmade items year round. Over the years I have designed almost as many spring/summer pieces as fall/winter ones, and it's so fun to revisit these patterns as the weather calls for it. Just like the previous suites I put together this year, these latest bundles will be focusing on wardrobe staples that are seasonally appropriate and classically fashion forward. Let me introduce to you:

The Ballerina Wrap Top has been one of my most popular patterns over the last two years. This cropped crisscross silhouette is super flattering on all body types and it’s one of the first patterns I was able to have professionally graded into eight sizes. Worn solo, layered over a tank or a sundress, or paired with pants or a skirt, this piece will add a flirty, elegant touch to summer days and night.
Worked up loosely in breathable cotton, this lightweight v-neck sweater is the perfect thin layer for air-conditioned rooms and summer evenings. The elongated back of the Magic Hour Sweater shaped with easy short rows adds intrigue to the otherwise simple silhouette, and fabric works up quickly on larger needles.
Silky, drapey, and ultra-lightweight, the On the Horizon Wrap is an oversized versatile piece that can be draped over the shoulders or worn with the point in front for a totally different look. Simple eyelets make up the majority of the fabric, keeping it nearly weightless for hot summer days.
One of the most popular designs from my recent Polished Collection, the Opal Tank is a casual, sporty tank top with a racer back and long, lean silhouette. So easy to throw on with jeans or cut-offs, this tank can also be dressed up and looks lovely with a skirt for a more formal vibe.
The only knit accessory you’ll need all summer! The Sunstone Multi-Wrap is the most versatile piece I have ever designed. Wear it as a wrap, shawl, scarf, belt, head wrap, sarong, or top! The slinky fabric (thanks to Lion Brand Truboo) is so soft and buttery you’ll want to find even more ways to wear it so you never have to take it off.
Take it to the beach, the park, the pool, or the market! The Thistle Market Bag is an elegant tote built to be functional as well. Wide handles reinforced with an attached i-cord keep it sturdy enough to haul heavier items while the eyelet detailing adds a summer spin to the look.

The airy Eastwick Wrap is the lightest weight of its kind when it comes to crochet. Worked up in repetitive treble stitches, the lacy fabric keeps you cool in warm weather and the piece itself can be worn in several ways to suit a variety of occasions. Throw it over shoulders, wrap it with the point in front, or tie it at the waist for use as a sarong at the pool or beach.
The Explorer’s Club Poncho is one of those pieces that’s great for summer because it transitions so well from the pool or beach to the streets. The optional belt allows for this to be worn open or wrapped around the body for more coverage, and it pairs perfectly over a swimsuit or atop a dress or jeans and a tee.
Summer calls for adventure, and that often means leaving the house for awhile. What better bag than the Field Trip Tote to carry all of your essentials!? The roomy size and re-enforced straps make this the best choice to haul all of your supplies whether you’re headed out for a picnic, a day trip, or a weekend getaway.
I’ve seen the Flower Child Circle Tank on all different body types, and it looks gorgeous on all of them! I love a piece with a silhouette that suits all different shapes and sizes, and this is definitely one of them. The swingy, flouncy shape just begs you to twirl, and the breezy essence screams summer.
The Quartz Pullover has been the most popular pattern by far from my recent Polished Collection. This is my favorite kind of design – unique, stylish, simple yet statement-making, and best of all: beginner friendly! I love this piece paired with shorts, skirts, and wide-leg pants and although it feels effortless and SO comfortable, it’s also super elegant and makes for a beautiful evening ensemble.
You know those pieces you make once and then decide you need in every color? Well the Topaz Tee is one of them. This project is so quick to whip up, and the boxy shape has that minimal, modern appeal. The net fabric makes this another piece that goes straight from the beach or pool to the streets and is such a fun cover-up to throw over any swimsuit or tank top paired with shorts or a skirt.
