Affirmations Scarf

The Affirmations Scarf is quick knit worked up in Hometown USA featuring a simple four row lace repeat that looks much more complicated than it actually is. As I was making it I chose four different affirmations and repeated them over and over across each corresponding row. It made for a therapeutic and peaceful experience, and each stitch is then instilled with positive energy that will be carried over to the recipient.
Due to the speediness of the pattern, this also makes for an excellent last minute present. It's an easy level pattern and the techniques involved are the knit stitch, purl stitch, yarn over, slipping stitches, and the s2kp centered double decrease. The repeats are easy to memorize and the resulting product is stunning.
MATERIALS:
5 skeins Lion Brand Hometown USA in Aspen Tweed or approx. 320yds/295m of another super bulky weight, cat. 6 yarn
Size US 15 (10mm) knitting needles
Tapestry needle
FINISHED SIZE:
Width: 13”/33cm
Length: 78”/198cm
GAUGE:
8 sts + 11 rows = 4”/10cm in pattern (after blocking)
ABBREVIATIONS:
*All Two of Wands patterns are written in standard US terms*
CO – cast on
K – knit
P – purl
Rep – repeat
RS – right side
S2KP – slip 2 sts knitwise at the same time, knit 1, pass sl sts over
Sl – slip
St(s) – stitches
YO – yarn over
Note: Sl sts at the beginning of the row are slipped purlwise with yarn in back on right side (odd) rows and with yarn in front on wrong side (even) rows.
CO 26 sts.
Row 1 (RS): Sl 1, *YO, S2KP, YO, K3, rep from * to last st, K 1.
Row 2: Sl 1, P across row.
Row 3: Sl 1, *K3, YO, S2KP, YO, rep from * to last st, K 1.
Row 4: Sl 1, P across row.
Rep rows 1-4 until scarf measures 78”/198cm when laying flat.
Bind off. Secure and weave in all ends.
