Hue + Me: Mondrian Pullover
When I heard color blocking was trending this season I knew Hue + Me would be the yarn for the job! With nearly endless combos thanks to the mix-and-match palette, this yarn works up beautifully in multi-color projects. I have a feeling the Mondrian Pullover will be a favorite not just this season but for years to come. The term color blocking instantly makes me think of Piet Mondrian and his abstract art of the early 20th century. His iconic works have inspired everything from furniture to fashion and while most derivatives are near exact copies, I chose to pull inspiration simply from the bold offset color blocking.
Mondrian's art may be a century old, but it still feels super fresh and modern. I love how knitting is an ancient art but can also still feel so relevant and modern with the right application. I chose a cropped silhouette with oversized drop shoulder sleeves and a slight gather at the cuff to bring in even more of a current feel.
The chunky weight of Hue + Me makes this project extremely quick and easy, bringing an even greater sense of satisfaction to this bold pullover. I can't wait to cast on another in a different color combo! It pairs so well with high-waisted pants and jeans and even skirts.
This is a beginner level knitting pattern and the techniques involved are knitting and purling, ssk and k2tog decreases, intarsia color changes, and working back and forth as well as in the round.
