I’ve been super into color blocking lately, and it felt like a no-brainer for a blanket project in Color Theory Yarn with so many options for beautiful color combinations. I took it a step further with this design and broke up the column blocks with uneven random striping that truly brings it all together.
I am thoroughly obsessed with the way these colors play together. Tourmaline is a tint of Peacock, and Moonbeam is a tint of Thunder, so they all balance each other out so well. The two lighter colors mixed with the two darker colors makes for such a striking piece with bold contrast and so much visual interest.
Some of my favorite pieces to design are those with big impact but very few skills needed. With just simple color changes, this truly beginner level project feels so elevated, and since the yarn is held double it works up in no time!
This is a beginner level knitting pattern and the techniques involved are knitting, purling, changing colors, and seaming.
