Spring 2025 Trend Report

With every season comes a fresh set of trends that trickle down from the runway to our hooks and needles. Having studied fashion design in college and now being a knitwear designer, I’ve always loved watching the runway shows each season and getting inspired by what the top dogs are doing. Sometimes it takes a little while for the trends to reach our industry, but I personally love to look back on older designs that already feature the current trends so I can restyle them with a renewed vision. When it involves so much time and dedication to create a hand knit or crochet item, you don’t want it to last just one season! Trends always come back around, and sometimes it’s just about pairing them with something different to make them feel new again. With this in mind, let’s examine some of this season’s hottest trends and colors along with some lovely patterns and yarns that utilize them! Exuberance, joy, optimism, flamboyance - those are the words to describe this season’s trends. With a heavy emphasis on femininity, maximalist trends are center stage, but juxtaposed against these indulgent styles was the exact opposite. Sporty outerwear topped sequin dresses, dresses were featured worn over pants, and utility plaids were paired with ruffles and lace.

In terms of color, the spectrum of hues highlights the various feminine trends. Soft pastels like wispy pink and buttery yellow play up the girly romantic laces and ruffles, ravishing brights represent the sexy side, and rich browns ground it all with a nod to quiet elegance.

So how do these trends translate into some of my favorite knit and crochet designs? Let’s have a look.
